All the seafood at Octopussy is supplied by our fish shop next door, Dorans on the Pier. www.dorans.ie
Each morning our chefs select their fish and shellfish directly off the counter….now that’s fresh.
At Dorans on the Pier, they know their seafood. With 3 brothers who have fished, with over 50 years of sea time between them, they really do know their business. They still operate their own trawler, the Celtic Fisher and have a busy factory supplying to some of Dublin’s finest restaurants. Dorans have 3 seafood restaurants, 1 of which is Octopussies on Howth’s West Pier. Dorans also have a home delivery online shop, seafood2go.ie, and of course the shop, Dorans on the Pier.
In addition to their wholesale business, the shop sells a wide range of fish and shellfish, all as fresh as can be, and at prices that will keep you coming back again and again.
The Doran family is surrounded by the all things fish. When Michael Doran started fishing in the 1930s and bought his first vessel, the 30ft “St Mary”, little did he know where it would lead him and his family. Following the fish stocks at the time, he moved to Howth in 1956 and steadily increased the size of his fleet to 10 vessels at one stage!
Following his passing in 1988, his sons gradually started to build up the shore side of the business and concentrate on the fish factory on the pier in Howth and ship chandelry business and hardware which is only 100 yards from Dorans on the Pier.
In Dorans on the Pier they select only the best and freshest seafood directly off the local boats here in Howth and from around the country literally from Malin head to Mizen head. And with the changing cultural spectrum and the demands for more exotic types of fish, they fly in twice weekly the sort of fish such as Sea Bream, Swordfish, Fresh Sardines, Catfish, Tilapia and Carp to name but a few.
So if you are looking to sample the freshest seafood dishes cooked just to your liking, Octopussy Seafood Tapas Bar is the place to come.
